Tyler Caughill

I had wanted to learn to dive for years but always managed to find a reason to put it off. After relocating to Toronto in 2005 a co-worker suggested going out to the CANSAC Open House. I did and was immediately hooked.

I was certified as an ACUC Open Water Diver over the winter of 2006/2007, and have never looked backed. I soon completed my ACUC Advanced, ACUC Rescue, TDI Nitrox, ACUC Night Diver, ACUC Ice Diver, and ACUC Dive Master. I also hold DAN specialty certifications in O2 and Advanced O2, Basic Life Support, On-Site Neurological Assessment, First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life and AED for Dive Emergencies. I am currently completely an SDI Solo Diving program and look forward to begining my training as an Instructor.

Over the last few years I have enjoyed diving in the Bay of Pigs in Cuba, California's Channel Islands, the reefs of Cozumel, Mexico and, of course,  all over Ontario. When asked about my favorite places to dive, I must confess that everywhere I have been has offered something spectacular and different from each other and I would be had pressed to choose one favorite.

Stefan Starczewski

I was always intrigued with the possibility of breathing underwater. My first chance to try it came while on vacation in Jamaica. After a 15 minute session in the pool, I went with the local 'dive guy' on an 80 foot deep dive to check his lobster traps. This dive made me realize that I needed real training.

I took my basic training in 1998 with Happy Divers Den and received my SSI Open Water Diver certification in Tobermory. In 2003 I completed SSI Advanced Diver, and in the years following my joining CANSAC in 2006, ACUC Rescue, SDI Solo and TDI Nitrox Diver certifications.

My favourite Ontario dive so far has been a night dive on Tiller wreck, St. Catharines, my favourite warm water destination is The West End, Roatan Island, Honduras.

Kevin Bull

It was after spending many vacations snorkeling around the Greek islands that I decided it was time to be more adventurous take up scuba diving.  I joined the Canadian Sub-Aqua Club just over three years ago where I obtained my basic divers certification, I will be completing my advanced certification this year.

I enjoy wreck and drift diving and take every opportunity to dive with other club members, so that I may continue to improve my diving skills and learn from the expertise and experience that they all have to offer.

And I look forward to my first year as an elected member of the executive committee.

Don Woods

I took my basic scuba training with Argosy Sports (Scarborough) in 1979, Joining Canadian Sub-Aqua Club at the recommendation of a friend in January 1980. I completed my divemaster certification in 1996. In my tenure with the club, I have served for many years on the club executive, serving as safety director in 1981, Secretary from 1982 to 1988 and again from 1992 to 1997 and club president from 1998 to 2001. I became Treasurer in 2004. I have also served on the dive committee and the telephone/e-communications committee. Most of my diving has been in Canada with my preferences being drift diving and wreck diving. My favourite international dive location, so far, has been Lady Elliot Island at the south end of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

On my return from a vacation to Cozumel in 1979
where I took a resort course I decided to gain my scuba certification and
became certified that year. Originally my diving was mostly down south when
the opportunity arose but when my son and daughter decided to become divers
I became more active in diving in Ontario and I am really glad I did. I
joined Canadian Sub-Aqua in 1999 and presently serve as Safety Director
which is my first position with the club executive.

I enjoy reef diving when south but wreck diving on old wooden schooners
such as the City of Sheboygan, Annie Falconer and Olive Branch are some of
my more memorable dives.

John Berkhuizen

I did my certification in 2003 by taking a resort course in the Bahamas. That spring I joined Canadian Sub Aqua and then sat through the ACUC course for personal satisfaction. Since then I've taken a few upgrading courses. I enjoy both local fresh water dives for the historical elements as well as the southern with its abundance of wild life.

Leonard Teuma-Castelletti

A certified diver since 1968 and Instructing since 1981; he holds Instructor ratings with several agencies, including NAUI, SDI, TDI and ACUC International. Specialty Instructor Ratings include Advanced Nitrox, Extended Range, Deco Procedures, Advanced Rescue, Underwater Propulsion Vehicle, Night, Ice, Dry Suit, and Solo Diver and 10 DAN courses to name a few. Leonard is an ACUC Instructor Trainer Evaluator and has served as the Club’s Training Director since 1993. He also owns and operates LTC SCUBA Centre, in Concord Ontario.  Favorite local diving areas are Kingston and Brockville.
