Learning to dive is easy with The Canadian Sub-Aqua Club. We offer a comprehensive ACUC International Open Water Diver course commencing every September and every January!

Our 12 week program covers all aspects of the sport and ensures that once completed, you are ready to dive safely and comfortably.

 

You will learn:

 

  • The history of diving
  • Diving terminology and hand signals
  • Wind and water actions and their effects on divers
  • The effects of water on light, sound and bouyancy
  • The physiology of diving
  • About the different types of diving like night diving, cave diving, ice diving, etc.
  • Diving physics
  • Decompression
  • Dive planning, dive safety, first aid and rescue

 

Minimum Requirements (must be complete before the end the course):

 

  • Minimum of 12 years of age
  • Complete a brief medical questionaire
  • Swim 200 yards on the surface, any style
  • Swim 15 yards underwater
  • Sim 25 yards on the surface towing an inert swimmer
  • Tread water for 8 minutes
  • Recover objects from the bootom of the pool (8 foot depth)
